As if the Hornicator weren’t reason enough, Thomas Truax once again makes me go “awwww!”. Follow him on soundcloud poste haste, for he has decided to do a Monthly Journal of music for the next 12 months:
The Monthly Journal will be a living, mutating organism taking place in twelve intervals over 2011. Tracks will be informed by any number of things: the vibe, feeling, texture, atmosphere of the changing seasons, the expanding and contracting lengths of days and nights, weather, news, dreams, personal or world events as they unfold. I’ll respond to these with a piece that will be created, produced and released within the window of each month.
Here’s the first three:
January Egg Race Dream by Thomas Truax
February What Ya Doin To Me by Thomas Truax
March Winds by Thomas Truax
Reasons to love Thomas Truax:
Listen to / download a track from his new album, Sonic Dreamer. Then buy said album because, like I said, it’s FREAKIN’ AWESOME.
You can’t beat a good song about chicken, especially one by a West Virginian one-man-band. With influences like Hank Williams Sr, Jimmie Rodgers, Little Richard, and Colonel Sanders and a vast catalogue of songs about love, heartbreak, police, death, decapitation, hot dogs, aliens and tasty, tasty chicken… well… sheeee-it, if you haven’t got down with The Haze yet, you done might as well be deaf.
NYC-based Norton Records has been keeping the fryer sizzlin’ since poor Hasil tragically kicked the KFC bucket in 2005. This glorious nugget can be found on the Out To Hunch collection.
